ABOUT THE ARTIST
Self-portrait study of Alfred Steigletz’s “Sun Rays — Paula Berlin” (1889).
Alyvia Luong is an interdisciplinary artist and model based in Chicago. She has amassed a total of 48 accolades throughout her teenage years — 6 of which are national awards/recognitions from Scholastic Art & Writing and YoungArts. In addition, she has been published in numerous magazines, catalogs, and anthologies and interviewed by NPR, VoyageHouston, etc.
Luong currently bridges installation/sculpture, photo/film, sound, textile art, and 2D media within her art practice. Combined, these mediums have evolved into a larger artistic vocabulary to address the complexities of the Southeast Asian Diaspora and Vietnamese-American identity. Simultaneously, Luong is also exploring human connection/interaction and its ability to encourage dialogue on concurrent social issues, as well as its application in remembering forgotten and untold diasporic narratives.
